How do you make your organization more resilient?

At RiskChallenger, we believe that good communication is crucial for effective risk management. In addition, it is important that there is an open culture, where risks can be discussed in a broad context and with input from relevant stakeholders. Risk-free systems don't exist; organizations often have to operate under pressure, with limited resources and sometimes conflicting goals. Risk management can help you deal effectively with the uncertainties that the organization faces.

Here are four tips to make your organization more resilient, either 'Resilient' to make:

Tip 1: Also focus on what is going well

Instead of just looking at what can go wrong, it's also important to understand why things go well. Once all identified risks have been addressed, this does not mean that there are no more risks. By analyzing and reinforcing what works well, you increase the chances of success and reduce risks that are not visible.

Tip 2: Create a communicative and open culture around risks

A culture of trust, open communication and collaboration is essential. Ensure that employees within the organization are involved in risk management and create an environment where everyone feels responsible. Don't make risk management the process of a few who are too far away from reality. Broad engagement creates a collective sense of responsibility, which encourages pro-activity and reinforces communicative risk management.

Tip 3: Strengthen adaptive capabilities

Organizations must be able to adapt to changing circumstances. This requires that people and systems can anticipate and absorb pressures, variations and disruptions. Make sure that not only the procedures, but also the assets, risks, measures, roles & responsibilities and available resources are communicated to everyone in the organization. This enables employees to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected situations. Use tools like RiskChallenger to get and keep up-to-date insights into your process to better manage risks.

Tip 4: Balance between resilience and resilience

At RiskChallenger, we see resilience as two sides of the same coin: resilience and resilience. Resilience is the ability of an organization to protect itself against risks through proactive & preventive measures. Resilience is the ability of an organization to respond in time, adapt, and quickly recover to the (new) normal situation. An optimal approach is characterized by a balance between resilience and resilience with a holistic perspective.
